- Look here, George. If you discuss a statement from an individual, not speaking
- for the company, about considering technical possibilities as if it were a
- promise by the company to pursue a particular direction, then _you_ are the one
- spreading misinformation and false expectations.
-
- Dr. K. is speaking to us both as an informed member of the Amiga community, and
- as an AT employee who keeps us informed about internal developments as a service
- to the user base. This is a rare phenomenon, and one that most of us begged and
- pleaded for. If you take all his words as gospel and try to pin AT down on
- them, you are effectively making it impossible for him to continue doing this.
-
- Now ask yourself: Would you rather have AT stick to an option that turned out
- to be a poor choice, just because the user base seems to expect it? Options
- must be explored, and from time to time there will be one that must be rejected.
-
- We don't have a Bill Gates who first promises something to the users three years
- in advance and then commands his programmers to deliver it, regardless of
- technical considerations. I'm very happy about that myself. See what's
- possible first and you will have a more exciting machine, greater longevity, and
- less vapourware. The vapourware is replaced by rumours but you've simply got to
- keep them in the proper perspective.
